Paper Title: Fan H, J Graff Zivin, Z Kou Z, X Liu, and H Wang, “Going Green in China: Firms’ Responses to Stricter Environmental Regulations,” NBER WP # 26540.

Cocktail Pairing: Jade Lightly

Rationale: This paper examines the intensity of firm responses to new water pollution regulations in China by looking at investments in pollution control as well as environmental R&D.  We find that firms concentrate their efforts on ‘light green’ emissions control rather than more dynamic investments in ‘bright green’ innovation.  As an homage to this key finding, this cocktail is light green in color. It includes domaine de canton, a ginger liqueur originally from the Pearl River Delta, and yuzu bitters as a nod to the Chinese setting for this paper.  The mint and lemon garnish of mint and lemon is meant to invoke a fresh and clean sentiment.  The Jade Lightly is a spirit forward and refreshing cocktail of my own creation that is perfect to enjoy on a warm sunny day.
